As a kid I used to love the Fonz from Happy Days, I think I told you guys that already lol. Why? Well, because he was cool. So as I grew up I always wanted to be cool like he was. But what is cool? Through trial and lots of errors lol, I figured it out. Be yourself…that’s cool!

So I’m headed to Europe for a couple weeks and in preparation I’ve realized that it’s ASH WEDNESDAY. What would Ash Wednesday be if I didn’t release a tune? RISE stands for: Rise In Social Equality…Julian Keaton is looking to make a difference and he’s doing it through his music, thus, The Rise Album: Rise in Social Equality. The goal of the album is to make minority citizens aware of social issues and injustices in today’s society. Another goal is to get more citizens active and vocal about social issues in their communities. He also plans to give back to the community, 10% of all album (digital and physical) sales and merchandise sales will go to charities and non-for-profit organizations and several small businesses will match the donation amount.

This is a freestyle rap, just not off the top of the dome. He spitting a verse to a beat he didn’t write it to. I wish he didn’t read off his phone too though. His bars are on point though, isn’t that all that matters? But this brings up a good discussion, is the art of freestyling off the top of the dome dead?
Its still crazy to me that segregation was legal in America. Artists do NEED to be more accountable for the things they say. Emmett Till’s family is outraged over a new song released by Lil Wayne and Future where Lil Wayne raps this line:
“…Beat That Pussy Up Like Emmitt Till…” What do you think? Did Lil Wayne go too far? This is a bigger issue than Lil Wayne and his choice of lyrics, to me this is about self love and understanding the history of black people in America.
