Logan emailed this to me and said it was a must read. It is. It fits in perfectly with my last post on MC Lyte. Its funny, the older I get, the more I find myself listening to a LOT of hip hop for only the beats. There’s almost no point to listen for lyrical content. But rap used to be about something. What happened? Well, rappers stopped acting their age…TRUTH Minista Paul Scott breaks it down. He’s a genius.
“…Just look at the complexity of Busta Rhyme’s lyrics 20 years ago when he was with the Leaders of the New School (LONS) as compared to his recent work, proving that you can have a sick, supersonic, 60-bars-a-second flow and still say absolutely nothing of substance. If you you don’t believe me, just go back and listen to his verse on the LONS’s joint, “Understanding The Inner Minds Eye (TIME)”, where he spits, “It’s kinda ill when you don’t know what time/ Or whose time you are living in,” and compare it with his song with Lil Twist. I rest my case…”
Lisa Ford, thank you so much for this interview. On the Lisa Ford blog I saw this interview with MC Lyte where she discussed the current state of hip hop. Let me just say this, I agree with her all the way and I’m happy that I’m not the only one who feels this way…
“…It’s as if some party is going on 24 hours per day and no one has any worries. The men that are rapping pretend they’re not married, but they are. They’re married AND they have kids. And they say the weirdest things. Not only weird, but degrading and insulting to women & kids…”
Are you chasing your dreams, or watching them go… Love that skit at the end too.
I’ve decided that next week I will release a mixtape Basquiat and will feature the material I leaked since December, remastered songs, different versions as well as new material. After that I will release Shonny Darko (Po Diss Head) EP all to hold people over until my project Fuck My Job:Life In Reverse: drops at the end of the summer on iTunes
This took awhile to grow on me. But it did. I like the confidence she exudes on this track. Pretty tight.

Celebrating 4,000 views for his debut video “Mentally Ill”. Supreme let’s loose a very personal track that he did in 2009. When you listen and compare it to more recent music, you can see how he has grown as an artist yet the same things that drive him today were brought up in this track before he found his passion in music. This track is a celebration of Supreme’s Growth, and we need the thousands who are aware to continue to support.
I really feel this tune right here. Dedicated to one of the greatest leaders of our time Nelson Mandela. “Mandela [Listen to What the Drums Say]“, was produced by Agent of Change and shot by Haute Muslim. You can download it for FREE over at his Bandcamp page. You can read along, I put the […]
This is Rocksmith‘s official 2013 holiday collection featuring Migos as models. They have some real nice pieces. The Rocksmith holiday 2013 collection is merchandised as day and night. One set is seasonal with earth tones, tribal inspired sweater knits, flannels and heavily washed fabrics — the other a sleek and dark monochromatic group styled for […]
AMZING remix…but are you surprised? When have they disappointed you in the past? Well we are massive fans of The Colourist and their EP and we really wanted to remix one of their songs off the album. A bunch of the tunes had already been remixed by some great artists but ‘Fix This’ hadn’t been […]
